10 Interesting Websites You'd Like to Share

In no particular order...

FARK - It's the first website I visit in the morning, and probably the last one I visit before bed. A great collection of daily news stories. The discussion threads can get pretty amusing as well. http://www.fark.com/

BBC Guide to Comedy - A huge database of info about every comedy aired in the UK. I love British humour, so it's fun to browse through the shows and see all the stuff we've never had the chance to watch here in the US. We only get the lame American ripoffs of these shows.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/

Reel Views - The home of online film critic James Berardinelli. I've enjoyed his reviews since I first started seeing them pop up on the Internet Movie Database. Usually I can judge whether I will like a film by reading the reviews of Ebert and Berardinelli. I don't always agree with their views, but their criticism is such that I can gauge how I'll feel about the film by their responses. http://www.reelviews.net/movies.html

Car Talk - My favorite radio show. I've been listening to this on Saturday mornings for around twenty years. The hosts, Tom and Ray Magliozzi, answer calls about automotive problems. Sometimes they even give a decent answer. The website has the show online each week, so if I miss it on Saturday, I can listen at my leisure. http://www.cartalk.com/index.html

Antiwar.com - With the news media in the US doing such a horrible job in the past few years, a website like this is key to finding out what is really going on. For info about what is happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, the impending war with Iran, etc, this is your one stop show for the real news. Everyone else is too busy keeping us up to date about Paris Hilton, Britney, or what the latest is on Posh and Beckham. http://www.antiwar.com/

WFMU - This is a radio station out of New York. The station itself is very cool, but the coolest thing here is their blog. It is loaded with weird MP3s. Recently they had MP3s of over 100 versions of Stairway To Heaven. Some incredible strange stuff there. http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/mp3s/index.html

April Winchell - April is an actress and radio host. I've never heard her radio show, but her website is full of amusing MP3s. If you want to hear tons of really bad celeb singing, Abba songs in Hindi, or Black Hole Sun as performed by Steve & Eydie, this is the place for you!! http://www.aprilwinchell.com/multimedia/

Pandora - This is a great place to discover new music. You create a channel for a band you like. The website will then find artists of a similar style to what you listed for you to listen to. You can say you like the song, or hate it, and it will better define the things you might like. I've found some great bands on here. http://www.pandora.com/

80s arcade games - Forget the XBOX 360. Forget the Wii. (okay, the Wii is actually pretty cool) THese are the games I loved as a kid. How many quarters did I pump into Donkey Kong, Pac Man, or Tempest? Now I can play them for free! http://www.tripletsandus.com/80s/80s_games/arcade.htm

The Dude Abides - This is the blog of Chicago Sun Times religion writer Cathleen Falsani. She pretty funny. and her blog covers spirituality and pop culture. (it's slow lately as she's taking time off to write her new book) http://falsani.blogspot.com/

Cool. If you like her website, I'll have to lend you her first book. I know you're a big Bono fan, and there's a chapter on him in there. An interesting read.
