What I'm grooving to right now: The Old Codger podcast
Last night i was flipping though the channels, trying to find something to watch. I came across a channel I've never watched before, the Fine Living Network, and they were just starting an episode of Iron Chef. Not the American version with Bobby Flay, but the really cool original with Chen Kenichi, Masaharu Morimoto, Hiroyuki Sakai, etc.. I don't mind the new version, but I always enjoyed the original more. I was saddened when Food Network stopped airing it. The original with it's dubbed voices and crazy ingredients was much more fun to watch. You'll never see fish eye ice cream made on the US version. I guess it's on every night at 10pm. Very cool. The only downer is it seems to be re-edited. The Backdraft music is gone, replaced with some generic crap. And last night was an Iron Chef Italian episode, so his dramatic entrance where he rises up with the string section had lame generic music as well. I can deal with those minor quibbles as long as the voice actors are all the same. I'm just so used to hearing the American voice actor saying "Fukui-san", if they had someone else saying it, or made it more westernized, I'd be disappointed.
