CJ7 and other assorted stuffs

What I'm grooving to right now: B-52s - Love in the year 3000
Had a nice relaxing day today. My friend Sophia took the day off so we could go see the new Stephen Chow movie CJ7. It was pretty good. Not great, but entertaining. It was a little weird though that it is definitely geared towards a younger audience, yet it's released subtitled. I don't mind subs at all, but I think their target audience will not be able to appreciate it. I'd rank the movie behind God of Cookery, Kung Fu Hustle, and Shaolin Soccer in the list of Chow films, but I'll probably pick up a copy of it on DVD for my collection. (possibly will do that later tonight. I'll have to check my Chinese bootleg websites!) I must say though that I was quite surprised to find out when reading reviews of the film that the adorable little boy in the movie is actually played by a girl, Xu Jiao. I didn't catch that at all.
We got downtown really early so we went for a nice walk around Grant Park. Took some photos of the "Bean". Before heading over to the movie, we hit The Billy Goat for some grub. Cheezborger, cheezborger! No fries, chips! Yummy. She never had one before, so we had to stop. Those burgers hit the spot. The coolest part of the day though, was we bought our tickets for Avenue Q. Excellent. We were able to get the front row of the balcony for a Sunday matinee show. I can't wait to see this again. Unfortunately, this is not the same cast that I saw on Broadway or that is on the album, but I'm sure it will still be entertaining..
